Genshin Impact finally makes its way to the PlayStation 5 next week. To celebrate the hugely popular action RPG’s jump to Sony’s newest console, developer miHoYo has released a lengthy gameplay video to highlight the many ways the next-gen hardware enhances the experience.
In a post to the PlayStation Blog, Zhenzhong Yi, miHoYo’s Studio Technical Director, detailed many of these upgrades. From new, high-resolution textures to the benefits of the PS5’s SSD and proprietary DualSense controllers, the studio looks to take full advantage of the PS5 when it comes to bringing Genshin Impact to the platform.

Remarking on the PS5 version’s boost in visual fidelity, Yi said, “The PlayStation 5 hardware provides an ideal platform to experience Genshin Impact, making the world of Teyvat even more detailed, more vivid, and more immersive. That’s why we wanted to bring the PS5 version to players as soon as we could.” Yi continued, “At the same time, we’ve been working to develop various functions to fully utilize this next-gen console in the long run: we created a graphics library completely from the ground up, and we built a customized file-loading system to take advantage of the powerful SSD of the PS5. So in future updates, we will have much more potential to elevate the visual quality and game performance – we are only scratching the surface.”
Genshin Impact will release on the PS5 on April 28 alongside the game’s ‘Beneath the Light of Jadeite’ 1.5 update. The two upcoming banners are Gentry of Hermitage and Born of the Ocean Swell, adding the fire and ice character duo Yanfei and Eula.
