Nintendo Download for 4/15/21

A Downpour of Gaming Courtesy of Nintendo Download

Nintendo Download | Rain on Your Parade

This is another one of those special Downloads – one that happens after a big showcase. Specifically, this one occurs after yesterday’s packed Indie World Showcase. This Nintendo Download for 4/15/21 is as busy as yesterday was. Better yet, it highlights some of the great indies shown off, as well as offering demos and even some special sales. Plus all the other stuff you come here to read. So let’s start off this Nintendo Download by tipping our proverbial hats to an iconic platformer!

Put On Your Party Hat

Nintendo Download | FEZ

As a longtime Nintendo fan, I often lament when other consoles get exclusives. Especially when they’re games I want to play myself. So I never thought I’d get a chance to play FEZ on a console. I’m very happy to be proven wrong. And if you want to see my take on this classic Xbox adventure, stay tuned for my upcoming FEZ review on Nintendo Switch! Another promising looking indie from yesterday was There Is No Game: Wrong Dimension. It struck me as WarioWare with more of a plot, and it looks pretty fun for a point and click game. The last featured game from the Indie Showcase is The Longing. I admit I’m not nearly as interested in this as the previous two games. Simply because I’m not the most patient gamer, so being told to wait 400 hours in a game sounds like punishment. But if you love creepy artwork and a unique premise, it might be for you. But that’s not all. We still have a handful of other featured titles in this Nintendo Download, so buckle up. RPG fans are sure to appreciate SaGa Frontier Remastered. It brings improved graphics and new features to the popular game, including a new main character. If you’re more of a fan of detective games, you might like The Darkside Detective: A Fumble in the Dark. Lastly, if you want to brave a bullet hell boss rush, try Godstrike. Now let’s continue things with a special demo available on the eShop.

  • The Knights Who Say Never – While Aerial_Knight’s Never Yield slides onto Nintendo Switch on May 19, a demo is available in Nintendo eShop now. This is not your typical “runner” game! Run, jump, slide and dash through a futuristic Tokyo-styled Detroit to a head-bopping soundtrack as the protagonist Wally to save what’s left of the future.

Bullet Hell for All

Nintendo Download | Godstrike

Now, normally I’d switch to the Game Guide sales, but we have another special one before that. It’s called the Spring Indie World Sale, and it includes more than 30 different indie gems. As such, I won’t mention all of them, but will discuss what I feel are the highlights. Keep in mind this sale lasts from today until 4/25. Without further ado, here’s the best of the best – Carrion, Curse of the Dead Gods, Dandara: Trials of Fear Edition, Dead Cells, Grindstone, Hades, Haven, Katana ZERO, Mulaka, No Straight Roads, Ori and the Will of the Wisps, Panzer Paladin, River City Girls and Sky Racket. To see the full list, just click here.

I know, I thought it was time to go to the regular sales now, too. But then I saw the words “Devolver Digital”. Yes, that fine outlet of crazed and creative gaming is also having a sale that lasts for the next ten days. As such, I have to mention what’s best to pick up in the Devolver Digital Spring Sale. Here’s my highlights – Ape Out, Broforce, Crossing Souls, Downwell, Enter the Gungeon, Exit the Gungeon, Gato Roboto, GRIS, Hotline Miami Collection, The Messenger, Mother Russia Bleeds, My Friend Pedro, Olija, The Swords of Ditto: Mormo’s Curse and Witcheye. You can find the full list here.

I thought I was tired after the Indie World Showcase yesterday, but now I’m really exhausted. Hope you all enjoyed this packed Nintendo Download! Be sure to tune in to HPP next week for your weekly dose of Nintendo fun. And many thanks to Greg for the great new Featured image.
