Yahoo Answers Joins the Undead in Typing of the Dead: Overkill

The End of an Era

Well, folks, it’s the end of an era. Yahoo! Answers, an internet fixture since 2005, is officially closing down. Now we’ll never know the answers to such burning questions as “My friend told me that the Pfizer vaccine gave them a painful 19-hour erection. Is this possible, or am I being pranked?” Or “How can I make coffee with only water?” And of course, this gem: “How am I going to name my darn baby now without you guys telling me you hate every one of my baby name picks? ?”

If, like me, you were worried that this seemingly endless font of entertainment was going to disappear forever, worry not! Thanks to the delightful people who run the YahooAnswersTXT Twitter account, there’s a free MOD for The Typing of the Dead: Overkill over on Steam. Those glorious souls collected 500 of their highlight tweets and made a custom typing dictionary for the game. It seems so oddly fitting that the corpse of Yahoo! Answers should be reanimated in a delightful zombie game, doesn’t it?

Now, how’s about we give Yahoo! Answers the send-off it deserves? What were/are your favorite questions? Favorite highlight reel or video? Which phrases should we try and preserve or add to another typing dictionary for The Typing of the Dead?

Once upon a time, he wrote for oprainfall. Now, he's scraping off the rust to get back into writing about the games he loves. From his humble origins of playing the Atari and Commodore 64, he now dabbles in just about every console there is. Although he has a particular love of hardcore dungeon-crawlers, roguelikes, and niche JRPGs, some of his favorite games include Earthbound, Persona 3, Eternal Sonata, Bravely Default, Tales of the Abyss, and Fate/Extra. If his geek cred wasn't good enough, he's also a bassoonist.
