Don’t be afraid to get your feet wet while looking for the Flooded Forest sub-camp!
Monster Hunter Rise is, quite literally, the largest traditional MonsterHunter game that we’ve seen yet. And, though more space means more opportunities for exciting encounters while out on the field, it can also make running from place to place on foot a bit of a tiresome experience. Fortunately, Rise makes traveling relatively hassle-free thanks to the inclusion of Canynes—the dog counterpart to the Palico, and fleet-footed mount—as well as sub-camps—which were first introduced in World. However, while Canynes are readily available from the get-go, players must locate sub-camps and complete a related request before being given access to them.
Fortunately, although locating some of these can be tricky, we here at Hey Poor Player will be going through each of Rise‘s unique locales in order to give you a helping hand regarding where to find each of the game’s sub-camps, and how you can go about unlocking them once discovered. Hopefully, you’ve got some waders on, because this time we’ll be stepping foot into none other than the Flooded Forest!
Where to Find Sub-Camp 1
While a majority of the areas in Rise have two sub-camps, the Flooded Forest, much like the Shrine Ruins, only has one sub-camp. Personally, I’m not sure why that is—there’s definitely enough room to squeeze a second one somewhere in there—but, hey, at least we’ve got one! But just where is it, you ask? Easy! In order to find Sub-Camp 1, all you need to do is climb the tall stretch of vines atop the small ledge triangulated in the middle of areas 11, 9, and 6. The stretch of climbable vines is pretty easy to see if you’re looking upward, but feel free to use the picture above as a comparison point as needed!
How to Unlock Sub-Camp 1
Congrats on finding Flooded Forest Sub-Camp 1—now comes the hard part. Just kidding! Just like always, unlocking this Sub-Camp 1 is as easy as slaying eight small monsters. For this request, Flooded Forest Sub-Camp Security, you’ll need to slay eight Wroggi. Because this is a request, however, these Wroggi don’t all need to be slain at the same time. So long as you slay eight of them eventually you’ll be good to go!
There is a little bit of a downside to this specific request, however. Normally, there’s a specific quest that I like to recommend that can make unlocking related sub-camps faster. Unfortunately, there are no easily accessible Wroggi-slaying quests. Instead, your best bet is to go on a tour in the Flooded Forest. Wroggi aren’t too difficult to find—just stick to higher ground and you should be able to find enough in no time flat. Alternatively, if you want to tackle something bigger, you could consider heading over to the Gathering Hub to take on the HR1 quest, Wroggi Place, Wroggi Time. While this quest involves hunting a Great Wroggi, it usually has several Wroggi following it around when you first find it (and it can summon more!), meaning that should get some easy kills that way as well. Regardless of which way you decide to go, taking down eight shouldn’t prove to be a difficult task!

This guy and his friends might be in the Wright-ggi place for you if you’re looking to set up your sub-camp!
That wraps things up for this guide regarding how to unlock the Flooded Forest sub-camp in Monster Hunter Rise. Hopefully, this guide helped you make quick work of things! How are you enjoying Rise so far? What are your thoughts on the Flooded Plains? Why do you think that Capcom decided to place a giant pyramid in it and then do almost nothing with it?
