SNK announced today that Samurai Shodown is now available for the Xbox Series X|S.

On the Xbox Series X, Samurai Shodown runs at a blistering 120 FPS – twice the frame rate of the PS4 and Xbox One version which released in the summer of 2019. Thanks to Smart Delivery, those who already purchased the last-gen version of the game can now download the enhanced port free of charge.

Samurai Shodown is now available to download on the Xbox Games Store for $59.99. Additionally, the retail version is available thanks to a partnership between SNK and Koch Media. The boxed version of the game includes Season Pass 1, which includes 4 characters—Rimiruru, Basara, Wan Fu, and Kazuki Kazama—and a costume as an added bonus.

As a big fan of the franchise, I happened to love this reboot. I scored it a 4.5/5 in my review back in 2019, saying: “When all is said and done, if you’re a fan of the Samurai Shodown series, then this is one reboot that you’ll want to have in your collection. While the game doesn’t radically alter the series’ established formula, the new additions like Lightning Blade Attacks and Counters further flesh things out to create an experience that feels very familiar while offering some fresh offensive and defensive options to spice things up.”

In addition to the Xbox Series X|S, the game is also available for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, PC, and Google Stadia.

Do you plan on adding this weapons-based fighter to your Xbox Series X|S library? If you played the previously-released versions, what did you think of them? Be sure to let us know in the comments section.
