Nagamasa Azai and Oichi confirmed for Samurai Warriors 2 with gorgeous new character portraits
Publisher Koei Tecmo America has shared two new pieces of character art for Omega Force’s upcoming Musou title, Samurai Warriors 5.
Revealed in a post on the company’s Twitter account, the art shows off the husband and wife duo Oichi and Nagamasa Azai in the game’s new visual style, which is meant to mimic the Sengoku era’s Japanese ink paintings.
Check out the striking new character art for Oichi and Nagamasa Azai below:
The last head of the Azai clan, Nagamasa made his first appearance as a non-playable character in the original Samurai Warriors. Married to Oichi, this jousting lance-wielding warrior was once loyal to Oda Nobunaga but betrays him by allying with Asakura’s forces in Samurai Warriors 4.
One of Nobunaga Oda’s younger sisters, Oichi and Nagamasa were married as part of an effort to strengthen the alliance between the Oda and the Azai clans. She is a skilled fighter who wields a pair of dual chakrams in battle.
Developed by Omega Force and published by Koei Tecmo, Samurai Warriors 5 was first announced during the February Nintendo Direct broadcast. The game’s story takes place following the Ōnin War, during the Sengoku period. It will feature a roster of 27 playable characters, and all of the returning ones have been redesigned to fit the Sengoku theme.
So far, the company has confirmed 11 of the game’s characters. Among them include returning characters Nobunaga Oda, Hideyoshi Yashiba, Mitsuhide Akechi, Nō, and Yoshimoto Imagawa. Additionally, the Kōga Ninja Mitsuki is a new addition to the series’ roster.
