Dying Light is far from dead
Dying Light is a classic, but the sequel continues to have an ongoing, troubled development cycle. Nonetheless, the developers are still very much committed to supporting the original game and catering to its extensive fan base, and this is evident in their celebration of the game’s sixth anniversary.
The event in question has been dubbed Zombie Hunt and has players hunting down zombies who are former GRE agents. In order to take part, you’ll have to slay a rather unsavory character named Hothead Joe, who is a former HTU officer. Defeating him will award persistent players with a unique “HyperArgument” hammer.
You’ll also have to help other survivors, and if everybody manages to aid 100,000 of them, then everybody will receive a golden katana as a reward. The event started on February 25 and continues until the March 3, 2021, so be sure to log in as soon as possible if you already have the game in your Steam library.
From the Dying Light website:
“Although we’re celebrating, the citizens of Harran are still in grave danger. A while ago, the GRE sent their agents into the field, equipping them with special boost potions—the ‘GREcipe’. Unfortunately, the mission didn’t go off as planned and the operatives died. Now, they walk around Harran as undead, terrorizing the city and wreaking havoc among survivors. And that’s not all. Since the ‘GREcipe’ caused mutations in their bodies, they are not just some regular undead, but tough and strong freaks of nature. It’s going to take skill and wit to hunt them down, but the bounty is generous.
“You’ve got one week to deal with Hothead Joe and save the survivors, as another freak of nature is already approaching, and he’ll be here soon.”
