Samurai Warriors 5 slices and dices its way onto consoles and PC on July 27 in North America and Europe
Today, publisher KOEI TECMO America announced that Samurai Warriors 5 will launch on July 27, 2021 in North America in Europe.
In addition to revealing the game’s Western release date, the publisher also highlighted a number of new details on Omega Force’s upcoming Musou title.
The game takes place after the end of the Ōnin War, during the Sengoku period. It will feature a roster of 27 playable characters, and all of the returning ones have been redesigned to fit the Sengoku era. Among these characters are Ieyasu Tokugawa, Hideyoshi Hashiba, Nō, and Yoshimoto Imagawa. Additionally, Koei Tecmo also announced one of the game’s original characters, the Kōga Ninja Mitsuki.
The publisher will be announcing additional characters leading up to the game’s July release.
Samurai Warriors 5 will also introduce all-new Musou actions, including Musou Frenzy Attacks. These flashy abilities can send hordes of enemy soldiers flying and are brought to life in a vibrant Japanese ink painting style, further driving home the game’s Sengoku-era setting.
To celebrate today’s announcements, Koei Tecmo America published an official announcement trailer for the game. Check it out below:
Samurai Warriors 5 is currently in development for the Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. Of course, the game will also be playable on the Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 through backwards compatibility.
