The Sinking City Brings Lovecraftian Horror To PS5 Tomorrow

PS5 version of The Sinking City to feature 4k visuals at 60 frames per second, faster load times, and more

Developer Frogwares today announced the surprise launch of The Sinking City for the PlayStation 5. Available exclusively on the PlayStation Store, the game will release at midnight on Friday, February 19th.

Originally released in 2019, the game is a Lovecraftian action-adventure title that puts players in control of Charles W. Reed, a private eye and war veteran who arrives at the flooded city of Oakmont to solve the mystery behind the terrifying visions he’s been plagued by. The PS5 version includes a host of welcome enhancements, including updated graphics, 4k resolution at 60 frames per second, faster loading times, DualSense controller support, and more.

Of course, a trailer is worth a trillion words. Lucky for us, Frogwares has released fresh footage of the PS5 version showcasing the game’s overhauled visuals and quality of life improvements in action.

Check out the PlayStation 5 release trailer below:

The PS5 standard edition of The Sinking City will be available for $49.99 and $64.99.

“As the sole owner and publisher of The Sinking City on PS5, we have chosen to price the game in a region that we feel is fair to players for this type of game. We’ll also be carefully looking at how we price all our future releases to try keep with this way of thinking,” said Serge Chervonnyi, Frogwares’ Head of Production, in a press release.

As someone who enjoyed the PS4 version of The Sinking City but felt its performance issues really held the game back from reaching its full potential, I think this enhanced port is a welcome addition to the PS5 library. Are you looking forward to exploring the submerged streets of Oakmont and trading lead with all sorts of cosmic horrors and crazed cultists? Sound off in the comments below and let us know.
