Things Get Crazy After a Direct

Nintendo Download | PUSS!

I don’t know about you guys, but I’m still recovering after yesterday’s massive Nintendo Direct. There was so much more than I expected, including some games returning from my childhood. But this Nintendo Download isn’t about all that. There’s almost no rehash here. No, instead we have a bunch of great games to discuss, including multiple featured titles, some events, sales and more. So let’s get started with a collection of retro that was mentioned during yesterday’s Direct.

Back To the Past With Capcom

Nintendo Download | Capcom Arcade Stadium

When I was growing up, Capcom could do no wrong. They were visual wizards full of ideas. So in theory, Capcom Arcade Stadium is very exciting. There’s a ton of stuff there, including 1943 and Ghosts ‘n Goblins. My issue is that the collection is nominally free, but not really. You get one game for nothing, but have to pay for packs of other games. So while I do love classic Capcom and new features like leaderboards, I’m hesitant to jump on this one myself. But thankfully that’s not the only featured title in today’s Nintendo Download. We also have the frantic mayhem of Persona coming to Switch as Persona 5 Strikers. Admittedly not the Persona 5 I want on my Switch, but it’s a good start. We also have the demo of the newly announced Square game, Project Triangle Strategy. And lastly, there’s an interesting looking rogue called Curse of the Dead Gods. Next, we’ll continue the Nintendo Download with some news bites.

Digital Spotlight

  • Super Smash Bros. Ultimate – There’s never been a bigger cast of characters or a better time to jump into the ultimate brawl! Super Smash Bros. Ultimate features a giant lineup of video game icons duking it out in fierce battles that take place across dozens of signature locations from throughout gaming history. It also includes more than 1,000 music tracks from classic gaming franchises, cementing its legacy as the ultimate tribute to gaming’s past and future. Plus, with the Fighters Pass Vol. 2 DLC, which can be purchased for $29.99, you’ll also get access to Min Min from the ARMS game, Steve & Alex from Minecraft and Sephiroth from the FINAL FANTASY series, as well as the recently announced Pyra/Mythra and two more yet-to-be announced fighters as they release. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is currently available in Nintendo eShop.

Activities:

  • A Golden Opportunity – For a limited time, you can earn up to 600 My Nintendo Gold Points – twice the normal amount – when you purchase select digital games through Nintendo eShop, Nintendo.com (where available) or participating retailers.* Eligible games include Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, among others!

Though there aren’t any new highlighted sales for this Nintendo Download, there’s the usual Game Guide offerings. First up, if you want a new waifu, look no further than Lily of the Hollow – Resurrection. It’s currently only $5.59. If you prefer shambling about like a drunken idiot, try Drunken Fist for $5.99. Those who enjoy rogue antics can check out Dungreed for $9.99. Or for an emotional puzzle game, try Evergate for $7.49. And lastly, for a truly unique vision, try Desert Child for $5.99.

Nintendo Download | Rogue Heroes Ruins of Tasos

Now for some more quick sales. If you love colorful craziness, try Spinch for $11.24. Or for a monster collecting adventure, try Nexomon: Extinction. For hack and slash with pretty lights, try Neon City Riders for $11.99. Or for a horrifying dungeon crawl, look no further than Mary Skelter 2. It’s more than half off at $15.99. And lastly, for a fantasy roll of the dice, try Hand of Fate 2 for $13.49. Now let’s finish up the Nintendo Download with some digital goodies.

Hack ‘n Slash Fun

Cathedral | Boss Fight

If you have the need for retro, there’s only a couple options this week – Arcade Archives THUNDER CROSS and Glam. For a surprising sequel, try Anodyne 2: Return to Dust. Those looking for some role playing mechanics should check out Doom & Destiny Advanced and Rogue Heroes: Ruins of Tasos. If you want some puzzle action, try Knight’s Retreat and PUSS! For a cinematic visual novel, check out Dry Drowning. Fans of action can try Boom Blaster and Speed Limit. Finally, for two distinct takes on platforming, try Thomas Was Alone and Cathedral.
