You’re free to stay as long as you’d like… if you can survive
If you’re a fan of Resident Evil then this week must have been an absolute delight for you, as Capcom has announced its next upcoming game in the series, Resident Evil Village.
The eighth main entry in the RE series, Resident Evil Village continues the story of Ethan Winters, which was first set into motion in Resident Evil 7 biohazard, and promises to deliver a combination of pulse-pounding action and that classic survival-horror gameplay that series fans have come to know and love.
The recently revealed showcase trailer for Resident Evil Village shows off several different mechanics, such as the ability to purchase and sell items, purchase recipes and craft items, and customize weapons thanks to the help of a merchant dubbed “The Duke.” Also unveiled was a cast of horrifying, and, if you ask certain parts of the internet, *ahem* gratifying enemies which Ethan will have to fend off using whatever weapons he happens to happen onhand. And, if players need to put a bit of distance between themselves and their fearsome foes, they can utilize Ethan’s new kick move in order to do so.
As previously reported, those lucky enough to own a PS5 can now get a sneak peek of what’s in store for them by downloading the Maiden demo. Those owning an Xbox Series X|S and/or PC will also get to play the demo at some point as well, but we’re not sure just when that will be.
Resident Evil Village is slated to release on May 7 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC. And for those who want to jump in on day 1 and are planning to upgrade their PlayStation 4 or Xbox One but can’t do so currently, don’t worry; you can upgrade your version of the game for free when you finally do.
