The Shorter Games With Worse Graphics Bundle Is Now Available On Itch.io

Want shorter games with worse graphics? Here are some good ones — we’re not kidding!

Playing up a viral tweet earlier this year, solo indie developer CannibalInteractive is hosting an Itch.io bundle promoting shorter games made by fellow indie devs. With 32 games available from 25 developers, the bundle is priced at $20 — a veritable steal, considering buying all titles individually would normally cost players $108.43.

The bundle’s name references a viral tweet made earlier this year, when Twitter user Jordan_Mallory shared some apparently widely shared sentiments on video games.

I want shorter games with worse graphics

“i want shorter games with worse graphics made by people who are paid more to work less and i’m not kidding,” Jordan stated, with 107,000 people liking the tweet. The hundreds of comments underneath the thread was filled with people suggesting their favorite short games or indie devs sharing their own. Months later, the sentiment becomes perhaps even more relevant considering the conversation surrounding CDPR’s use of crunch and other questionable incentives such as tokens to force developers to work longer hours for no additional pay.

It’s this sentiment that CannibalInteractive mulled over for some time before ultimately deciding to host an Itch.io bundle with other developers. “I think it’s a great time to see people put their money where their mouth is,” they said on the bundle’s page.

Games in the bundle include three of their own works, including I Have Low Stats But My Class Is “Leader”, So I Recruited Everyone I Know To Fight The Dark Lord, which HeyPoorPlayer has previously — and positively — reviewed. Other games include Test Tube Titans, Baby Labor, Demonizer, The Count of Monte Carlo, and more.

In addition to the bundle, CannibalInteractive is hosting interviews with the developers in the bundle on their YouTube channel. Called Indie2Indie, the first in the series is with SprintingOwl, who contributed The Flexorcists, described in the YouTube description as “a tabletop rpg about pro-wrestlers working a side-gig where they banish ghosts, stake draculas, and powerbomb creatures from lagoons.”

If you want shorter games with worse graphics made by people who are paid more to work less and you’re not kidding, head on over to the bundle’s page and support indie devs before time runs out on this deal!
