Soon You Can Catch Them All!
After years and years of playing the Pokémon series, there’s one thing I still want – a real life Poké Ball. And sure, I realize there’s no scientific basis to trapping a giant monster inside a tiny ball, but the longing is still there. Which is why today’s news from The Pokémon Company and The Wand Company is nice to hear. They’re collaborating together to bring us the Die-Cast Poké Ball Replica Series. It will feature a variety of Poké Balls, including Great, Ultra and Premier variants. The standard variant is available for pre-order today, with the rest releasing in 2021. While I admit to not being as familiar with The Wand Company as The Pokémon Company, they’ve done some good work. Including replicas for Star Trek, Doctor Who and even Fallout.
Not exciting enough for you? Fear not, Poké fans. There’s more:
“These electronic replicas are equipped with technology that triggers the ball’s button to glow while sensing motion. Designed with collectors in mind, each replica is housed in a presentation case, featuring multi-colored lights which illuminate upon opening the lid, and is authenticated with a uniquely-numbered hologram.
Another special Poké Ball replica will be released exclusively to the official e-commerce arm of The Pokémon Company International, Pokémon Center, at a later date.”
Sure, they can’t hold actual animals inside of them. But these are still some nifty collectables. Especially to those of us whose brains have been marinating in the wide world of Pokémon since it launched.
