Namco’s updated roll-’em-up, Katamari Damacy REROLL, gathers players on two new platforms today
Two years since it first tumbled onto the Switch, Katamari Damacy REROLL is now available for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. This release gives new players a chance to experience Namco’s updated version of developer Keita Takahashi’s beloved 2004 roll-’em-up with fully upgraded HD visuals and cutscenes.
As you’d expect, publisher Bandai Namco Entertainment America has rolled out a launch trailer for the game. Watch The Prince roll up everything in his path to recreate the missing celestial bodies to please the King of All Cosmos in the trailer below:
“We are so excited to bring the wacky and zany adventure of Katamari Damacy REROLL to a whole new audience on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One,” said Abelina Villegas, Associate Brand Manager for Bandai Namco Entertainment America Inc, in a press release distributed this morning. “We think everyone could use a light-hearted out-of-this-world escape right about now, and we hope that Katamari Damacy REROLL helps restore a little twinkle in the hearts of all who play it.”
Well said, Abelina. Well said. I don’t know about you, but Katamari Damacy certainly takes me back to a simpler time far removed from what we’ve come to know today. When I think about the game, I’m instantly transported back to endless game nights in my first apartment and marathon sessions of Katamari Damacy, Ribbit King (if you haven’t played this one, you really need to), Gitaroo Man, and Warioware Inc. Man, what a time to be alive. For fans of quirky games, the early 2000s was our Renaissance era.
So, will you be picking up Katamari Damacy REROLL on the PS4 or Xbox One? Additionally, are there any other oddball games from that era that you’d like to see get the HD treatment? Let me know in the comments below.
