The first new game in six years, Disgaea 6: Defiance of Destiny brings 3D visuals and new mechanics to NIS’s long-running SRPG series
NIS America today announced that Disgaea 6: Defiance of Destiny will be bringing the quirky SRPG series’ tactical role-playing action to the Switch in the summer of 2021.
The game, which marks the first numbered entry in the series since 2015’s Disgaea 5: Alliance of Vengeance (read our review here), promises a number of new features and mechanics including Super Reincarnations and fully 3D visuals.
You can find the game’s full announcement trailer below:
Here’s a summary of the game’s story courtesy of NIS America:
“Zed is a boastful zombie who wallows on the lowest rung on the Netherworld ladder alongside his sister Bieko. When the strongest God of Destruction threatens their way of (un)life, Zed must harness his unique ability of Super Reincarnation to stand against the approaching menace. Along the way, he will unite with twisted and colorful denizens of the Netherworld, face challenges around and within, and see if even an undying hooligan like himself can defy the odds!”
Those interested in pre-ordering the game can do so now at the NISA Online Store.
As a longtime fan of the series, I admit I was a little unsure about the series making the transition to 3D. But as you can see from the footage above, Disgaea 6 is looking really, really nice in the third dimension, with vibrant visuals and charming character designs making the transition seamlessly.
What do you think of the Disgaea 6‘s overhauled visuals? Are you looking forward to picking up the latest installment in NISA’s hugely popular SRPG series when it launches next year? Sound off in the comments and let us know.
