The Last of Us Part II update brings back Grounded and Permadeath Modes

For a lot of players of The Last of Us franchise (myself included), one of the most entertaining things about the game is its gritty and realistic approach to survival. How supplies are limited in a dog-eat-dog world, and everything measure needs to be taken to survive. It’s why there’s that amazing feeling you get after surviving a pack of clickers with just a shiv and a Molotov cocktail. It’s why The Last of Us works because it often feels too real. I’m enthralled to announce that The Last of Us Part II update has officially announced that it will be bringing back their beloved Grounded Mode difficulty.

In the Grounded mode for the original Last of Us, enemies could deliver up to 3x more damage making them more realistically deadly. Atop this, respawn checkpoints were reduced, supplies were made even more scarce, and most importantly: listen radar was completely removed — delivering the game’s most realistic and grounded feel in terms of gameplay.

The Last of Us Part II update will also add a permadeath mode, where you have to play through the game without dying a single time. It also comes with more accessibility options, along with enhanced add-ons, you can toggle between bullet speed, infinite ammo modes, and one-shot kill modes.
