No need to be afraid of this particular Exophobia.
Despite its sheer primitiveness, the 2.5D gameplay of the original Wolfenstein games have a certain charm to them. Of course, I mean Wolfenstein from our friends at id. But yeah, an FPS without a y-axis can indeed be fun. And it’s with that knowledge in mind that we’ve seen Exophobia bake in the proverbial oven of Steam Early Access.
The game will feature players awakening in a crashed human star ship on an unknown alien planet. Overflowing with hostile alien raiders, players must equip weapons, destroy the angry mobs, find out what happened to the ship and its crew, and hopefully fire up the engines to get home again.
Exophobia differentiates itself by featuring an odd color palette consisting of muted pinks and blues. There’s also a slower-paced, exploratory play style to compliment the fast-paced action, and RPG-esque elements such as weapon upgrades will be a thing. Add some crazy guns to the mix, tons of gores, and exploding barrels, and you have yourself a unique FPS experience that we’re keen on trying out.
Think you might wanna be giving it a shot? Head on over to its official Steam page to keep up with its development. You’re also able to download a demo! In the meantime, check out the trailer to see the gameplay in action.
