Top 10 Roguelikes

Rogue

C’mon. How could I possibly compile a list such as this without referring to the seminal title that started the genre in the first place?

Rogue is hardcore. Don’t even think about approaching it until you have some sort of knowledge and experience from the previous titles. If you want a more accessible game, you can try one of its many spin-offs, such as Brogue which also offers a tile-based option. It’s also available as an app for iPhone and Android, so once you think you’ve earned your roguelike stripes, set the clock back 30 years and give it a go. You won’t be sorry.
