Current-gen version of Ultracore to include optional synthwave soundtrack featuring 20 tracks from popular artists.
Retro-minded publisher ININ Games has been on a roll lately with the recent releases of The Ninja Saviors – Return of the Warriors and Bubble Bobble 4 Friends. Now, the team has announced that Ultracore will be releasing digitally on the PS4 and Switch on June 23, 2020, in Europe, North America, Australia, and New Zealand.
Developed by Digital Illusions (now known as DICE) Ultracore was originally intended to release for the Amiga, Sega CD, and Sega Genesis. However, the game’s publisher Psygnosis canceled the title in 1994 despite it being virtually complete. Flash forward to 2019, the game was completed by German publisher Strictly Limited using an actual Genesis development kit and bundled with the FPGA-based Analogue Mega SG.
Featuring five large levels and a wealth of weapon upgrades, the current-gen version of the 16-bit run-and-gun title also features the addition of a new score comprised of 20 synthwave tracks from popular genre staples including Scandroid, Waveshaper, Mega Drive, Fury Weekend, 3Force, Isidor, Fixions, and more.
