How to Catch a Fly (Animal Crossing: New Horizons Guide)

You, fly, come bother me

They say it’s easier to catch flies with honey instead of vinegar, but that really isn’t the case in this game. If you’re trying to figure out how to catch a fly in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, it’s actually a lot easier than it seems — honey not required. Here’s how:

First, fish up some garbage, like a tin can or tire. For this exercise, I used a tin can. After that, place it somewhere outside — my initial placement was out in the open and I didn’t get anything, but after moving it closer to my house I got some results.

After placing your trash in the perfect place, run about your business as normal. Go inside the museum, catch some bugs, whatever. Periodically check back on your trash, and before you know it, a fly will spawn for you to catch.

Please note that you can also use spoiled turnips for this, but you’re more likely to spawn ants instead.

And that’s that! Did you catch a fly in Animal Crossing: New Horizons using this guide? Be sure to check out the entire Hey Poor Player Animal Crossing: New Horizons guide hub here!
