Streets of Rage 4 will bring brutal beatdowns to consoles and PC on April 30.
At long last, we finally know when Streets of Rage 4 will be released to the beat-’em-up craving masses. Publisher DotEmu and Lizardcube have announced that the game will be making its way to the PS4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC on April 30. The digital release will be priced at $24.99.
To celebrate today’s news, the publisher released a trailer showcasing the game’s adversarial Battle Mode, a returning feature first introduced in Streets of Rage 2 and its 1994 followup, Streets of Rage 3.

Additionally, Streets of Rage 4’s executive producer, Cyrille Imbert, detailed the lengths the team went to when incorporating the original Genesis sprites and music into the latest installment in the series in a recent PlayStation Blog post.
“Bringing these pixel characters back to life was no easy task, but as fans, it was something we were committed to and wanted to surprise you guys with,” Imbert continued, “Everything started right at the prototyping stage of development. We didn’t have any Streets of Rage 4 characters ready then, so in order to start testing things and working on the gameplay, Jordi Asensio, our game designer, ripped some sprites from previous Streets of Rage games and integrated them into the Guard Crush engine. As the development went along, we realized that these sprites actually looked really good visually – with the lightning effects and all – and that having them playable was something we knew fans would love.”
The first new game in the series in over 25 years, Streets of Rage 4 will feature music by A Plague Tale: Innocence Composer Olivier Derivière alongside series veterans Yuzo Koshiro and Motohiro Kawashima, Street Fighter II composer Yoko Shimomura, and Ninja Gaiden composer Keiji Yamagishi, and electronic artists Scattle, Das Mörtal, and more.
Will you be taking it to the streets to bring the Syndicate to justice once more when Streets of Rage 4 releases later this month? If so, which platform will you be playing the game on? As always, we love to hear what you think. Be sure to sound off in the comments and let us know.
