Let’s get climbing!

Who’s up for the latest in convenient Animal Crossing gadgets? Much like the limber river-crossing Vaulting Pole, the Ladder’s a quality-of-life tool meant to circumnavigate your island’s terrain; in this instance, scaling the cliffs of Animal Crossing: New Horizons‘ tropical paradise. But how to obtain it? We at Hey Poor Player got the goods.

To get the ladder, one must already have built Nook’s Cranny; unfortunately, this requires a minimum of three or four days depending on how you’ve gone about everything from establishing Blathers’ Museum to constructing Nook’s mom-and-pop shop, so you can’t utilize it right away. Regardless, once the Cranny opens, pop into Nook’s Resident Services tent and he’ll hand you residential plotting kits and bridge-construction tools to build around the island. Once you’ve carefully arranged your future neighbors’ homes, our favorite tanuki will contact you via Nook Phone and he’ll finally hand over the recipe to your long-awaited ladder! (As seen below, it requires four wood, four hardwood, and four softwood.)

Using it like any other tool, so simply whip it out, walk over to a cliff, and press A to climb on up. A treasure trove of flowers, iron nuggets, and wood piles await, so get harvesting!  (Also ensure it has a special slot within your Tool Wheel — if you don’t have that yet, what are you waiting for? It’s available for 800 Nook Miles.)
