Death end re;Quest 2 Is Getting A Steam Release This Year

The Steam version of this haunting JRPG will include options for English, Japanese, and Traditional Chinese subtitles when it releases later this year.

Previously confirmed to be in development for the PS4, Idea Factory International announced today that their upcoming horror JRPG, Death end re;Quest 2, will also be making its way to the PC via Steam.

The follow-up to Compile’s 2019 Japanese role-playing game (read our review here) Death end re;Quest 2 is being developed in partnership with Corpse Party scenario writer Makoto Kedouin and Kei Nanameda, who designed the characters for the first game.

Here’s a brief rundown of the game’s story courtesy of IFI:

“Mai Toyama seeks an escape from her traumatic past. She enrolls at Wordsworth, an all-girl’s dormitory situated in the small, mountainous town known as Le Choara where it was rumored that her sister, Sanae, was last seen. Hopeful, Mai seeks to find her kin, but she soon finds terrifying inhabitants which lurk throughout the town after dark. At night, Le Choara’s streets are filled with Shadow Matter—a horrific group of menacing creatures. Around every cobblestone corner, Mai discovers that her hope of finding her sister lies beneath the long-buried secrets which haunt Le Choara.”
