A shadowy figure with a metallic arm looks to be Streets of Rage 4’s next playable protagonist, check the game out at Dotemu’s booth next week during PAX East.
Publisher Dotemu today teased that they’ll be announcing a fifth playable character for Streets of Rage 4 next week.
The image accompanying the announcement (pictured above) on Dotemu’s social media pages shows a silhouette of what looks to be a burly character with a ponytail and mechanical arm. Could this image be hinting at the return of Streets of Rage 2’s burly wrestler Max Thunder or Streets of Rage 3’s bionic arm-packing Dr. Gilbert Zan? Perhaps a new character altogether? We’re not sure, but we’re certainly excited to find out when Dotemu pulls back the curtain on this mysterious pugilist next week.
So far, Dotemu has announced that series mainstays Axel Stone, Blaze Fielding, and Adam Hunter will be returning alongside the addition of a new character, the guitar-wielding Cherry Hunter, who is Adam’s daughter.
Developed by Lizardcube and Guard Crush Games, Streets of Rage 4 will be making its way to the PlayStation 4, Switch, Xbox One, and Pc later this year. The game features an overhauled combat system along with a soundtrack by series composers Yuzo Koshiro and Motohiro Kawashima, Street Fighter II composer Yoko Shimomura, Jet Set Radio composer Hideki Naganuma, and Ninja Gaiden composer Keiji Yamagishi.
Are you attending PAX East in Boston next week? If so, you’ll be able to get your hands on playable builds of Streets of Rage 4 and the upcoming Windjammers 2 at booth 28051.
So, do you have any guesses as to who this fifth playable character will be? Let us know in the comments.
