Help a down on his luck swordsmith repay his debts to score a beautiful bride in this quirky spin-off title, coming February 20.
Spike Chunsoft confirmed today that Katana Kami: A Way of the Samurai Story will be making its western debut on the PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC on February 20.
A spinoff entry in the Way of the Samurai series, which saw its first release on the PlayStation 2 in 2002, Katana Kami’s story is set against the backdrop of Rokkotsu Pass in a semi-historically accurate depiction of Meiji-era Japan. After the swordsmith Dojima is buried in debt, debt collectors decide to capture his beautiful daughter Nanami to keep as collateral until Dojima repays what he owes. Players assume the role of a ronin who offers to help Dojima settle his debts – but only if Dojima agrees to allow him to marry his daughter!
In Katana Kami: A Way of the Samurai Story, the action unfolds from an isometric perspective as players battle baddies, explore dungeons, and master over 100 weapons. The land of Rokkotsu Pass is also home to three different factions which the player will have to choose to ally with, betray, or maintain their relationship with over the course of their quest.
Developed by Acquire Corp, Katana Kami: A Way of the Samurai Story will be priced at $29.99. However, those who purchase the game in its first week will receive a 10% discount and two pieces of DLC content.
