With the launch of the Sony PlayStation 5 slated for later this year, the console’s official site is now live.
At the moment, the landing page is barebones. It offers little more than the console’s logo alongside a message teasing system’s projected holiday 2020 release with the message, “We’ve begun to share some of the incredible features you can expect from PlayStation 5, but we’re not quite ready to fully unveil the next generation of PlayStation.” The message continues, “Sign up below to be among the first to receive updates as we announce them, including news on the PS5 release date, PS5 price and the upcoming roster of PS5 launch games.
At the moment, not much is known about the PlayStation 5 apart from a few choice bits of information. The system is said to use a redesigned DualShock controller with haptic feedback that with adaptive triggers, features a GPU capable of ray tracing, an SSD drive for storage, and full support for the PlayStation 4 and PSVR library. Additionally, the console is rumored to offer backwards compatibility with the entire PlayStation family of home consoles.
Now that Sony has officially launched the PS5 site, it shouldn’t be long before we see more concrete information on the company’s latest home console. With the company skipping E3 this year, there’s no telling when exactly they’ll be giving the console a proper unveiling, but all signs seem to indicate it should be very soon.
