Don’t leave the dead where they lie.
Left 4 Dead is one of those series that seems to have fizzled out despite being good and retaining a dedicated fan following. But like a lot of cult classics, modders are keeping it alive with everything from new maps to severe overhauls. One such example is Chernobyl for Left 4 Dead 2.
As you can tell, the mod sees our intrepid southern survivors ending up in the abandoned city of Chernobyl. Except it’s not as abandoned as it should be and our crew will likely be murdered by the infected before radiation sickness kicks in. Either way, it’s one of the last viable options as the infection spreads across Eurasia and seems to stop short of the extreme northern tundras.
Chernobyl is a planned multi-chapter series, of which the first part is currently available. It’s taken over nine years, but we’ve been treated to a beefy collection of five maps with tons of new models and textures. Also, the maps are partially modelled on the actual Pripyat facilities and the Jupiter factory, so it’ll be a treat for history fans and S.T.A.L.K.E.R. fans alike. I’m keen to see more in the future.
If you’re keen on trying it out, head on over here to snag a copy of your very own. Of course, you’ll need a copy of Left 4 Dead 2 in order to play it. While you wait for the download to finish, check out the trailer below and sound off in the comments if you’ve played it.
