The bald and brutal Chinese general Wan-Fu character DLC caps off Samurai Shodown’s first season tomorrow.
SNK has announced that Wan-Fu will be making his way to Samurai Shodown tomorrow as a DLC character.
First introduced in the original Samurai Shodown in 1993, Wan-Fu is a physically imposing Chinese general in the Qing Dynasty. Over the years, he’s wielded a handful of weapons, including a traditional Chinese saber (Samurai Shodown), a massive stone pillar (Samurai Shodown II), and a mace (Samurai Shodown VI). This time around, the burly, bald brute once again uses a pillar to pummel his foes to a pulp.
To celebrate the announcement, SNK has released a new trailer showcasing Wan-Fu in action. Watch as he unleashes his fury on the mighty Mayan warrior Tam-Tam in the trailer below:
I scored the PlayStation 4 version a 4.5 out of 5 in our review, saying, “When all is said and done, if you’re a fan of the Samurai Shodown series, then this is one reboot that you’ll want to have in your collection. While the game doesn’t radically alter the series’ established formula, the new additions like Lightning Blade Attacks and Counters further flesh things out to create an experience that feels very familiar while offering some fresh offensive and defensive options to spice things up.”
You can purchase the game now for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. A Switch version of the game will be releasing early next year.
So, will you be downloading Wan-Fu when he releases tomorrow? What other characters would you like to see added to Samurai Shodown as future DLC? I’m all about seeing the criminally-overlooked Neihalt Sieger make a return down the road.
