Eagle-eyed Steam users spot a new achievement and Steam branches that could indicate fresh Resident Evil 2 content.
While Resident Evil 2 hasn’t received much in the way of added content since its January 25 launch, changed could soon be coming to Capcom’s critically acclaimed remake of the 1998 survival horror classic.
Users have discovered a mysterious new achievement with the text “EN_name” on the game’s Steam page alongside a crudely drawn kanji that translates to “placeholder,” seemingly indicating an as-of-yet unnamed achievement for the English language version of the game.
Further indicating new content could be on its way, the Steam database shows several new branches used for developer testing have also appeared over the past few days.
While Capcom has been silent regarding any upcoming content for Resident Evil 2 up to this point, all signs indicate fresh scares could be in the works. After all, the game’s first anniversary is less than two months away, so the timing certainly seems right for some kind of anniversary DLC to make an appearance.
Resident Evil 2 is a complete remake of Capcom’s iconic PlayStation survival horror title that follows rookie cop Leon Scott Kennedy and Claire Redfield as they explore the ruins of a zombie-infested Raccoon City following the events of the original game. Rebuilt from the ground up, the game ditches the cinematic, fixed camera angles of the original game for a free-moving, behind-the-back camera while adding fresh puzzles, scares, and story elements to the 1998 masterpiece.
So, do you think we’ll be seeing some fresh content added to Resident Evil 2 in the coming months? If so, what new features would you like to see added to the game? Sound off in the comments below and let us know.
