It’s a remake!

Xenoblade fans’ eyebrows were raised when Soraya Saga — MonolithSoft’s resident art designer — retweeted yesterday’s news of an upcoming Nintendo Direct, fueling speculation of an unannounced entry or even a potential port. Turns out we were on the money: Nintendo’s 2010 Wii RPG is getting a remake, dubbed Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition! Scheduled for 2020, check out the glorious HD world of the Bionis and Mechonis below!

While the Wii RPG was lauded for its original setting — a human vs. machine epic enacted across the sprawling bodies of slain gods — used copies have grown rare and expensive especially for America, so now new fans enchanted by 2017’s best-selling Xenoblade Chronicles 2 and protagonist Shulk in Smash Bros. can finally experience where it all began with this Switch remake! Details remain sparse, but not only have some fans charitably provided visual comparisons (as seen below), some more eagle-eyed viewers caught eye of what may be an unused location in the Bionis’s Left Shoulder. Naturally, we expect all sorts of new goodies in this self-proclaimed Definitive Edition, so it looks like we’re already in for a treat!
