In a blindsiding announcement closing Nintendo’s E3 2019 presentation, a The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild sequel is in the works!! Very little about this follow-up to the explosively popular 2017 Switch/Wii U title was divulged, but feast your eyes on the trailer below!
Us Zelda fans are no stranger to picking apart scant pre-release details, and there’s certainly no shortage of such touches in this trailer — Zelda has a new haircut, a familiar purple mass threatens both our heroes and the very land of Hyrule, and a familiar Gerudo emblem decorates that monster’s necklace. Could our new antagonist have some connections to Ganon?
No information on a potential release date was granted, but given this Breath of the Wild sequel borrows more than a little from the original’s graphical engine, we imagine it won’t suffer the myriad of delays like that game did. Given that this is a direct sequel, it’s easy to draw parallels between this and Majora’s Mask, not the least in this trailer’s darker tones. Wonder how much nightmare fuel we’ll have in this one?
We’ll keep you updated on any future announcements regarding this Breath of the Wild sequel; in the meantime, share your thoughts in the comments below!
