Psychonauts goes green.

In one of the bombshell announcements revealed at Microsoft’s E3 conference today, Psychonauts developer Double Fine Productions has joined the Microsoft family. And what, exactly, was the reasoning behind this sudden assimilation? In a sobering video provided by the company’s official Twitter, founder Tim Schaefer dives into the shocking story driving this decision:

Okay, we’re joshing you, but you should’ve seen that coming. While still tongue-in-cheek, a more thorough explanation from the man can be seen below. He affirms that despite Microsoft’s backing, the developer of numerous cult-classics won’t budge from their eccentric identity, citing Xbox’s interest in their unique output. With guaranteed funding for all their games moving forward, future titles such as Psychoanuts 2 will arrive bigger and better than originally envisioned.

Speaking of the upcoming sequel, for those who backed Psychonauts 2 in the interest of a PS4 version, don’t fret — as originally planned, the game will still arrive for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. In fact, why don’t you take a gander at the new Psychonauts 2 trailer if you haven’t already? The voice of Richard Horvitz demands it!
