It Lurks Below Released: A Game By Diablo Creator David Brevik

Now it lurks on Steam too

The venerable Graybeard Games today announced that It Lurks Below, a passion project developed entirely by Diablo creator David Brevik, is now available on Steam for PC for $19.99 USD. The game is an action-oriented survival-RPG with eight character classes, randomized scenery, with a 2D perspective, as the player navigates a world wracked by a demon invasion. Brevik, a 28 year industry veteran who is releasing his first game since Marvel Heroes in 2013, said:

“It Lurks Below has been in development for several years now, and I’m delighted to put this eagerly-awaited product into hands of gamers. I wake up every day excited to be working on this game and now I get to share it with the world,”

Since Brevik’s own Diablo inspired the role-playing mechanics while TerrariaMinecraft, and Starbound inspired the view and survival elements, It Lurks Below is very much a game that’s come full circle with other games he helped inspire.

Released in Early Access last April, Brevik has spent the last year listening to the community and working on the game while adding more content. Brevik said of the community experience:

“I’m flattered by the overwhelmingly positive response I received during Early Access and my personal streams of It Lurks Below… The experience of developing this game with the passionate community has been wonderful. I read every piece of feedback I receive, and directly interact with the community every day. There is so much fun packed into this game.”

You can watch seem live and kicking footage on It Lurks Below’s Twitch page for streams from Brevik himself. You can follow @GraybeardGames and @davidbrevik on Twitter, check out Graybeard Games on Facebook, and visit for latest info.

Jonathan is HeyPoorPlayer's token British person, so expect him to thoroughly exploit this by quoting Monty Python and saying things like "Pip, pip, toodly-whotsit!" for the delight of American readers. He likes artsy-fartsy games, RPGs and RPG-Hybrids (which means pretty much everything at this point). He used to write for He's also just realised how much fun it is to refer to himself in the third person like he's The Rock or something.
