Double Fine’s RAD Gets A Release Date

RAD invites players to a radioactive wasteland this Summer

Publisher Bandai Namco Entertainment and Double Fine have announced that RAD will be making its way to the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, and Steam on August 20th.

The game, which was first announced during Nintendo’s Nindies Showcase back in March, is a post-apocalyptic rogue-like that puts players in control of a bat-wielding teenage protagonist tasked with venturing into the Fallow — a continually changing, wasteland teeming with monsters as they attempt to save the seemingly ruined world.

“We’re almost at the home stretch and I couldn’t be more excited for everyone to jump into what we’ve built with RAD,” said Lee Petty, Project Lead at Double Fine Productions in a press release distributed today. “One of the best parts of developing RAD has been getting early feedback from the community with the Closed Beta. I want our fans and future players to know that they’re being heard and we’re going to bring an experience they’ll want to keep going back to.”

Additionally, Double Fine has announced the start of the RAD fan art contest, where community members can submit graffiti designs “that best represent the game”. The entries will be judged by the game’s development staff and may be featured the game itself. The available prizes include a skateboard, glow-in-the-dark action figure, lunch box, and floppy disk. Those interested in participating can do so here.
