SNK 40th Anniversary Collection Confirmed For Xbox One

Xbox One gets a dose of retro gaming bliss next month

SNK 40th Anniversary Collection

If you’re an Xbox One owner with a love for the classics, you’ve probably been feeling a bit burned that the SNK 40th Anniversary has only been available on the PlayStation 4 and Switch. Well, chin up, my retro brother (or sister) in arms. This carefully curated bundle of SNK hits from the 80s and 90s will be making its way to Microsoft’s big black box on May 3 courtesy of publisher Other Ocean. Sadly, if you were hoping for a retail version of the game to stick on your shelf, you’re out of luck as the publisher has announced it will only be available as digitally via the Xbox Marketplace.  At least Xbox One owners are getting it at all, right?

The SNK 40th Anniversary collection includes a wealth of hit games from the developer’s early years, many of which released before their iconic Neo Geo home and arcade console, including  Alpha Mission, Athena, Crystalis, Ikari Warriors, Ikari Warriors II: Victory Road, Ikari Warriors III: The Rescue, Guerilla War, P.O.W., Prehistoric Isle, Psycho Soldier, Street Smart, TNK III,Vanguard, Chopper I, Fantasy, Munch Mobile, SASUKE vs COMMANDER, Time Soldiers,Beast Busters, Bermuda Triangle, OZMA WARS, PADDLE MANIA, S.A.R., and World Wars. Additionally, as an added bonus, those who purchase the Xbox One version of the game will receive both the Japanese and American versions of Baseball Stars.  Additionally, the collection also includes a jukebox feature and fantastic interactive museum chronicling over 20 years of SNK history.

SNK 40th Anniversary Collection will release on May 3rd and will be priced at $39.99.

For more on the game, be sure to check out our reviews of the Switch and PlayStation 4 versions.

So, will you be adding this bundle to your Xbox One library when it launches next month? If so, what game are you looking forward to playing the most? Personally, I can’t recommend diving into the Crystalis. It’s easily the highlight of the collection and, in my humble opinion, one of the most enjoyable “Zelda clones” of the 1990s.  Let us know in the comments below. As always, we love to hear what you think. Sound off in the comments below and let us know.
