Bombs Away at Pirate Island Collectibles (Yoshi’s Crafted World Guide)

bombs away at pirate island

Argh, ye thought Pirate Pier was the last of those Pirate Guys? Ye thought wrong, for more of those masked villains are hiding away in the open seas, and they’ve got plenty of booty in Red Coins, Souvenirs, Poochy Pups, and Smiley Flowers. Fear not, however, for our handy treasure charts below have marked their locations.

Red Coins

Right before the first boat ride, observe the flying cloud floating around a palm tree and pop it to grab three coins. (3/20) Board the boat, then stand-by until you sail by the Pirate Guy-populated island — bomb the first Pirate Guy you see to earn another coin. (4/20) Once you’ve departed, Ground Pound these blocks for another coin (5/20), then the ones above to produce a coin collection containing three Red Coins.  (8/20). More blocks await further into the cave — Ground Pound here to uncover three more Red Coins. (11/20)

Once we’ve exited the cave, we’re going to ruin this octopus’s birthday by popping his present wide open and stealing his coins, including a red one. (12/20) When you’re collecting the ship parts for the next boat, head to the far-right hill and Ground Pound the blocks to unearth three more coins (15/20), then head up the northern path and pop the circling cloud to snag another three. (18/20) Your coin-plundering expedition ends during the final boat ride, where you shoot down these two ships. (20/20)

Smiley Flowers

When starting out, simply move along until the egg-spewing Egg-Plant — your first Smiley Flower’s on the tall papercraft palm tree next to it; hop onto the tree in front to reach it. (1/7) Next, as you’re bombing the Pirate Guy island, one Pirate Guy’s running down a slope with the Smiley Flower in hand — blast him to smithereens! (2/7) After the boat ride, walk along until you a ground-level palm tree accompanied by an Egg Block; sneak under it to find the third flower. (3/7) In the ensuing cave, pop the ceiling blocks free a spring as seen above, then jump into the hidden cavern for another Smiley Flower. (4/7)

Just before leaving the cave, Ground Pound through the blocks at this spot to unveil a cloud; pop it, and the fifth flower is yours. (5/7) Upon exiting, Ground Pound the blocks before the Egg Block and eliminate the Clawdaddys beneath to snag their closely-guarded flower. (6/7) Finally, shoot down that final behemoth of a ship at the end to plunder their treasured flower. (7/7)

Poochy Pups

The Poochy Pups are giving those Pirate Guys a hard time, but only the third may give you a little trouble. The first is on the last ship during the opening boat ride and the second hanging with a Ukiki monkey (look up in the block-filled cave when you hear barking), but you when you spot the last one on the run from a mob of Pirate Guys, don’t aim for it just yet. Instead, simply wait for it to climb up the palm tree and you’ll take it from there. (But hey, why not bomb the Pirate Guys for the heck of it?)

Souvenirs

Tray Boat: As seen above, this Flipside souvenir’s hiding behind a rock. Where, exactly? After you depart the first boat, head down towards the Ukikis and it’ll be right there.

Octopus Cap’n: You’ll spot this Flipside critter during the end of your second and final boat ride. Can’t miss it!

Cheep Cheeps: Unlike the living, breathing Cheep Cheeps, these cardboard fakers annoy simply through hide-and-seek. The first is in the background just before the first boat ride, the second after the third Smiley Flower, the third hiding near the end of the cave, the fourth moving between these rocks, and the fifth where you find the second ship’s sail.

And that’s all for Bombs Away at Pirate Island! Give us a shout in the comments below if you have any further questions, but in the meantime, check out our Yoshi’s Crafted World guide hub!
