Aggelos Is A Love Letter To 16-Bit Adventure Fans

Wonder Boy-inspired Metroidvania title Aggelos makes the jump to consoles next month

Following a successful release on Steam last summer, Aggelos, French indie studio Storybird Games‘ love letter to adventure games of the 16-bit era, is making its way to the PlayStation 4, Switch, and Xbox One next month, publisher PQube announced today.

Heavily inspired by Westone’s beloved Wonder Boy series, Aggelos is an action-RPG featuring a colorful, non-linear world to explore, fast-paced platforming, and satisfying, sword-slashing gameplay against meddlesome monsters and massive boss creatures that fill the screen. Oh, and there are coins to collect – tons of ’em. What’s a good retro-inspired platformer without buckets of glittering bullion to blow at the village weapons shop, after all?

Check out the latest trailer for the game below:

Aggelos will arrive on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Switch on April 25, 2019.

Will you be scratching that 16-bit itch when the game launches on consoles next month? Let us know in the comments.
