EDIT: While an earlier version of this article correctly reported the Nintendo Direct would arrive tomorrow, it misreported the date as February 15th. We apologize for the error.
The heavy speculation proved true: a 35-minute Nintendo Direct will arrive tomorrow, February 13th, at 5 PM EST/2 PM PST. According to Nintendo’s official Twitter, we know of only two details regarding this meaty presentation: it’ll be Switch-focused, and Fire Emblem: Three Houses will feature prominently. Anything else — be it a Joker trailer for Smash Bros. Ultimate, the upcoming Animal Crossing, or another look at Yoshi’s Crafted World — is up in the air, but despite Nintendo’s insistence they’ll continue supporting their fading 3DS handheld, its absence says it all.
For those following the rumors, you’re likely aware of a ResetERA user who not only predicted the date, but hinted at some enticing Nintendo exclusives coming this year. To clarify, these were never specified for the Direct, but just in case you’re drafting personal bingo charts, we’ve listed them for your convenience:
- Super Mario Maker 2
- Metroid Prime Trilogy port
- Pikmin 3 port
- 2D Zelda
While the next Pokémon generation was already confirmed this year for Switch, the rest remain unproven. They certainly make sense, though: upgraded Pikmin 3 and Metroid Prime Trilogy ports could serve as compelling entry points for their upcoming sequels, and the rest are common sense expansions upon proven concepts. (Already we’re drooling at the thought of a HD 2D Zelda) Regardless of whatever’s announced, we’ll be there to bring you the juicy deets tomorrow!
