French game developers Asobo Studio have released their final episode of their webseries, detailing the development of their upcoming title A Plague Tale: Innocence. The first and second episodes (Roots of Innocence and Dark Ages) were released on the 24th and the 31 of January. With the final installment, Children of the Plague going live today.

Children of the Plague explores the cause of the plague, and the games main enemy, the rats! This episode of the webseries explains the key part the rats play in A Plague Tale’s atmosphere and the narrative of the game. Striking on our perception of wild rats and the fears that still come to us when we see them in everyday life.

“Rats spark disgust, they represent a hidden part of our world. They live beneath us, in the sewers. In urban settings, they are feared because they remind us of filth and disease. We took this concept even further by making them central to the game: our rats literally embody the plague.”

Sébastien Renard – Narrative Director
