Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Switch Locks Latter Behind Download Code

Reminder: that’s just for Western territories.

Been gnashing your teeth at how all these Switch remaster collections purposely divide certain titles into download codes? As evidenced by Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD, that practice isn’t ending anytime soon — according to the official site, the American and Western physical releases for Square-Enix’s April 2019 remaster will only include Final Fantasy X HD onto the game card, whereas Final Fantasy X-2 HD is locked behind a download code (provided via an included voucher). Hardly a popular practice, but as one typically unnoticed by the general public, it won’t be going away anytime soon. Looks like disgruntled fans opposed just have to buckle down and bear with it…

Or perhaps not: as pointed out by NintendoSoup, there are English-friendly ways to circumvent this split. For those interested, the Japanese and Southeast Asian physical releases contain both games on the same Switch card, and whaddya know: both play in English! Of course, you could always stick with the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions, but obviously you won’t be playing portable Final Fantasy X/X-2 anywhere else.
