Capcom Announces Upcoming “1-Shot Demo” for Resident Evil 2

Brush up on your survival skills before the game’s release

The release of the Resident Evil 2 remake may be quickly approaching, but, for some, January 25 just isn’t close enough. Fortunately, those people who just can’t seem to wait to get in on the RE2 action (and everyone else, really) are in luck, because Capcom has announced that a special demo will be releasing soon.

Titled the “1-Shot Demo”, this preview will give players just 30 minutes to tackle the horrifying challenges awaiting them within Raccoon City. While Capcom has confirmed that players can continue as many times as they’d like throughout the demo (after all, everyone experiences a little zombie-related death here and there), there is a catch — this is literally a 1-shot demo. After the 30 minutes are up, players will be unable to restart the demo to play through it again. The cinematic trailer unlocked at the demo’s end can be replayed as many times as you’d like, however. So, hey, at least there’s that, right?

Resident Evil 2 will be releasing on January 25 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows PC, while the 1-Shot Demo will be available to download from January 11 – 31. What are your thoughts on this demo’s unique approach? Will you be testing it out for yourself? Let us know in the comments below!

Starting out with nothing more than a Game Boy and a copy of Donkey Kong Land, Kenny has happily been gaming for almost his entire life. Easily-excitable and a bit on the chatty side, Kenny has always been eager to share gaming-related thoughts, opinions, and news with others and has been doing so on Hey Poor Player since 2014 and has previously worked with both PKMNcast and SCATcast. Although his taste in gaming spreads across a wide number of companies and consoles, Kenny holds a particular fondness for Nintendo handheld consoles. He is also very proud of his amiibo collection. You can also find him on Twitter @SuperBayleef talking about video games and general nonsense. Some of his favorite games include Tetris Attack, Pokémon Black Version 2, The World Ends With You, Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance, Yo-kai Watch, Donkey Kong Country 2, Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS, Kirby's Dreamland 3, Mega Man X, and Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia (among many others).
