Two more versions of Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night have suffered a cruel fate
Those hoping to experience Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night on Mac or Linux are out of luck.
“In this update, we have a very important announcement to make,” the game’s creator said in a Kickstarter update this morning. “Bloodstained will no longer be supported on Mac and Linux. We have made this tough decision due to challenges of supporting middleware and online feature support and making sure we deliver on the rest of the scope for the game.”
The Mac and Linux versions of Bloodstained aren’t the only versions to find their way onto the chopping block. Last March, the Wii U version was unceremoniously canceled due to waning support for the platform and the surprising popularity of the Nintendo Switch. Earlier this year, the Vita port was abandoned as well.
Kickstarter backers who opted to receive either a Mac or Linux copy of Bloodstained are being asked to email the developer to choose a new platform.
Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night is currently slated to release on the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Switch, and Windows PCs in 2019. Here’s hoping none of these platforms end up meeting a similar fate ahead of the game’s release. There’s been enough blood spilled already, don’t you think?
