Watch as Claire Redfield gets tongue-tied in Capcom’s Resident Evil 2 remake
With the release of the hugely-anticipated Resident Evil 2 remake just a few months away, Capcom has released a new chunk of gameplay footage offering a look at one of the series’ most iconic monsters – the Licker!
Set in the derelict Raccoon City police station, the footage follows Claire as she encounters a handful of Lickers in what looks to be the prison’s kennel area. While Claire is initially able to avoid combat by creeping gingerly around the first monster, moments later she attracts the attention of a second one and all hell breaks loose. Here we get a good look at the game’s combat system, as well as the use of defensive knives—first introduced in the remake of the original Resident Evil on Gamecube—which Claire uses just in time to save herself from being torn apart by a tonguey terror.
In addition to the Lickers, we also get a good look at the new damage model as Claire explores the prison’s morgue. Gunshot wounds and bite marks now leave noticeable bloody wounds – a very nice touch indeed.
Take a look at the latest footage below:
Resident Evil 2 will release on January 25, 2019, for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
