Rockstar’s latest western includes over 150 more animal types than Far Cry 5
Hunting was a major part of life for those hardscrabble settlers of the wild frontier. That being said, it’s no surprise that Rockstar Games has put a heavy focus on the various varmints you’ll stumble across during your travels in Red Dead Redemption 2 when it releases next month.
The studio today confirmed that the game will include over 200 types of wildlife, each with their own unique ways of responding to the environment around them. For example, animals like deer and bison will traverse the frontier in large packs while wolves are more than happy to make a quick snack out of any hapless whitetail bucks that wander by. Additionally, possums will…well, play possum. Even different types of birds behave in unique ways, with bald eagles hunting any small prey that catches their eye while opportunistic vultures will seek out the carrion of felled animals.
The animals you hunt in the game can be used in various ways. You can use them as food, sell their hides, donate them to your camp, or even use their parts for crafting materials and more.
The wilderness is at once a bountiful and perilous place, for both man and beast, and any predator can quickly turn prey.
