9/6 Nintendo Direct Delayed Due To Hokkaido Earthquake

“Shigatta ga nai” — it cannot be helped.
nintendo direct delay

A bit of unfortunate news, everybody: the Nintendo Direct scheduled for today has been delayed out of consideration for the recent Hokkaido earthquake. Said earthquake has killed at least eight people, left over 40 missing, and cut power to three million people; when considering they were just hit by their most powerful typhoon in over a quarter-century (Typhoon Jebi), needless to say, Japan has more to worry about than video games.

It should also be noted that while Nintendo’s offices are located in Kyoto and Tokyo, not Hokkaido. Regardless, we ask our readers to please keep the people of Japan in mind this week.

In case you’re speculating the Direct’s new date, however, datamined evidence from Splatoon 2 has implied it’ll be exactly a week from today — September 13th. Whatever the new date, we’ll be there to report it.
