Garou: Mark of the Wolves Pummels The Xbox One and PS4 Today

The finest fighter on the Neo Geo lands on Xbox One and PlayStation 4

Garou: Mark of the Wolves

Fighting game fans are in for a treat today as what’s arguably the finest fighter on the Neo Geo has made its way to the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Hamster has announced that Garou: Mark of the Wolves, the legendary arcade and home console developer’s beloved 1999 one-on-one brawler, is now available on the Xbox Games Store and PlayStation Store as part of the company’s ACA NEOGEO lineup of ports from SNK’s 16-bit powerhouse.

Set ten years after Geese Howard’s death, Garou: Mark of the Wolves introduces an almost entirely new lineup of warriors as they compete in The King of Fighters: Maximum Mayhem tournament. The game features a number of new additions to the Fatal Fury formula including a “Breaking” feature as well as the T.O.P. mode, which gives the player the ability to use T.O.P. attack, gradually recover health, along with increased attack damage.

If you’ve yet to experience what’s widely regarded as SNK’s answer to Street Fighter III: Third Strike, now’s your chance. Like the rest of the offerings in the ACA NEOGEO lineup, Garou: Mark of the Wolves is priced at $7.99 – a steal compared to the $1,300 or so the AES cart fetches these days. Did I mention I hate myself for selling my copy a few years back?

So, will you be adding this gem of a slugfest to your PS4 or Xbox One library today? Let us know in the comments below.
