Love it or hate it, the Sonic movie’s coming, and we just got news on who’s playing The Blue Blur: Ben Schwartz. As reported by Variety, the man who provides voiceover for Dewey in the Ducktales reboot and is slated for Leonardo in Nickelodeon’s Rise of the Teenaged Mutant Ninja Turtles will be playing Sega’s mascot. This ain’t just gossip, either: Mr. Schwartz confirmed the news on Twitter.
I. LOVE. 90S. BLUE. ICONIC. CHARACTERS. I am beyond excited about this movie. It’s gonna be amazing. I have been training by running, wagging my finger and impatiently tapping my foot. GOTTA GO FAST! https://t.co/SOYqgnf3ym

As a reminder, while the movie’s live-action, Sonic himself will be CG. Apparently something of a buddy-cop movie, the films centers around Officer Tom Wachowski’s efforts to protect Sonic from the government. Jason Marsden is slated to play Officer Wachowski, with Jim Carrey playing series villain Dr. Eggman. Tika Sumpter and Natasha Rothwell have also been tapped to play unknown roles.
The Sonic movie is set to release next year on November 15th courtesy of Paramount Pictures.
