XSEED Games and Marvelous Europe have teamed up to announce that Freedom Planet will officially be hitting the Nintendo Switch later this month.

Originally released in 2014 for PC, and later on seeing releases on Wii U and PS4, Freedom Planet is a high-octane, lightning-fast platformer inspired by the classic Sonic the Hedgehog games. Players will be able to take control of Lilac, Carol, or the unlockable Milla as they race through the world of Avalice in order to return peace to its three kingdoms. Of course, that’s much easier said than done. In order to accomplish their goals, players will need to utilize quick reflexes, platforming skills, and the unique abilities of each character as they make their way through each of the game’s increasingly perilous levels.

Freedom Planet will feature both a standard “Adventure Mode”, which includes a full story and over 1 hours of voiced dialogue, as well as a “Classic Mode”, which cuts out the story entirely in order to let players get right into the action, with plenty of items to collect and secrets do discover regardless of which mode you choose.

Freedom Planet is slated to release on Nintendo Switch on August 30 in both North America and Europe. Will you be racing to save Avalice alongside Lilac and ther crew? Let us know in the comments below!

Starting out with nothing more than a Game Boy and a copy of Donkey Kong Land, Kenny has happily been gaming for almost his entire life. Easily-excitable and a bit on the chatty side, Kenny has always been eager to share gaming-related thoughts, opinions, and news with others and has been doing so on Hey Poor Player since 2014 and has previously worked with both PKMNcast and SCATcast. Although his taste in gaming spreads across a wide number of companies and consoles, Kenny holds a particular fondness for Nintendo handheld consoles. He is also very proud of his amiibo collection. You can also find him on Twitter @SuperBayleef talking about video games and general nonsense. Some of his favorite games include Tetris Attack, Pokémon Black Version 2, The World Ends With You, Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance, Yo-kai Watch, Donkey Kong Country 2, Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS, Kirby's Dreamland 3, Mega Man X, and Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia (among many others).
