Banned Board Games – Beat the Border

Banned Board Games: Episode Five – Beat the Border

This month we’ll see how irrational fears can translate into board games. We take a look at Beat the Border, published in 1971. The game portrayed those trying to cross the US border as drug traffickers. The concept wasn’t helped with not so subtle racist messages throughout. The aim of Beat the Border is to bring “kilos” into the US in order to sell them in various cities. Just beware of the pesky US Government who want to stop you and your trade! Dealing with an issue that is still often debated today, we can only hope that this board game would still end up banned. To find out more about this horrible game, be sure to watch the above episode of Banned Board Games!
