Thought it was unclear how Nintendo would distribute the final piece of Xenoblade Chronicles 2 DLC in Torna ~ The Golden Country? Have no fear, for Nintendo of Europe has stepped in to clear things up. While we learned at E3 it’ll launch for all territories on September 14th, it’s being treated as something of a separate release from Xenoblade Chronicles 2; in other words, you don’t need to own the original game to play this story expansion. However, this distinction only applies to the physical release, which…well, just look below.
From next month, you'll be able to play the additional story DLC for #XenobladeChronicles2, Torna – The Golden Country! Expansion Pass owners can download it from 14/09, while the standalone retail version will be available 21/09.

As described above, Xenoblade Chronicles 2 players who already purchased the Expansion Pass can download it on September 14th, but physical collectors can simply purchase a standalone physical copy a week later on the 21st. All of this was already detailed on Nintendo’s E3 page for this story expansion, but hey, no harm in reminding folks!
For those who missed the E3 presentation, Torna ~ The Golden Country is a prequel set 500 years before Xenoblade Chronicles 2, featuring the story of Jin and Lora as they combat Malos and his forces alongside other familiar faces such as Mythra and Brighid. You can watch the official trailer on Nintendo’s site here.
